Term End II, Nariman Point and La Tour De Lonavala

Sem II saw the  the successful introduction of Paasthala09 yahoo group and smooth, seamless functioning of the same. The misery of xeroxes was replaced with the ease of e-copies of journals, write-ups and assignments. The propagation was superb and results amazing. Under the leadership of CR the class smoothly sailed through semester II further troubling the lecturers ( I never like to call them Professors, they are all BE or at the most ME).

It was in sem II that AK Chaudary have us an important piece of wisdom that English language does not have a word that Hindi has......"संस्कार" and that we do not possess it! . I was touched by the thought that he thinks that this piece of wisdom could actually change us!! However, we respected him for the fact that he was not evil like some other professors (eg U*J). Due to our influential power, we were able to spend half of our Sem II in Einstein Hall, which was a seminar room with cool rotating chairs and A/Cs ( A luxury at that time). We thoroughly continued our hooliganism but now in a sophisticated environment. During all this time, division B was uniting and by the end of the sem it became a force no faculty could ignore!!!!

Sem II saw the beginning of a lot of activities which became perpetual traditions and some are followed even today. For example, on the last day of submission of sem II, many of us set for an outing to Nariman Point and visited Abha's place.

From sem II to sem VIII we always had our traditional outing on the day of sem end. But bigger and better things were being planned. CR had initiated the idea of a class trip to Matheran.Almost 40 people were expected to join in this picnic after sem II exams. Due to weather issues the trip to matheran was canceled and the venue was shifted to Lonavala. This was going to be the best thing to have happened to us. some 20-25 people turned up and this was this batch of people which formed the group PAATHSHALA. Fondly, I call this trip La Tour De Lonavala.

3 cars packed, we set for our first trip and the beginning of a never ending series of trips. The bunglow where we stayed for a brief 1 day felt like home. From the rock climbing to staying up all night for the first time,it was a small beginning to huge endeavors. From Pritika's scary dance to Pandey's drunken man act to Chandresh's Umrao Jaan to Shalmali's fabulous dance, the night was amazing and full of fun. Paathshala bonded for the first time.

The next day we visited Duke's Hotel and left after a short photo-shoot leaving the management puzzled. The return journey as usual was sad. It was a bit more sad for one of the car in which Rohan( Later named to be Patya) was travelling. People in that car gained a lot of extra knowledge from Tata's corporate history to the Asphalt used to make the Mumbai-Pune Highway. But they survived!!

We were all weary, tired and content. Fun had been redefined and lived for the first time in college. We could not thank CR enough. Needless to mention the help of Boni and Nishit. We knew that this was going to be it, a group if 28 people who will make it through the 4 years of engineering and maybe all through. We all slept and dreamt big that night. We dreamt of GOA!!!

Rang de basanti and all the khalbali....

This was the first outing we had...more than 30 people, bunking lectures and going for the first movie together, "Rang De Basanti". The decision was unanimous and within no time we were all out of the campus and reached Sahkar Theater near our college.

Many of us interacted with the rest perhaps for the first time and just like a new beginning in the movie, it was a new beginning for us. We were inspired by the spirit defined in the movie and we made it our very own, later on redefining it. It was first of the countless events to come, to enjoy and live. Even today, half a decade past that day, the moment is very fresh and alive in our minds. Thats how we became "Paathshala"!!!!
